Conference Social Events

Welcome Reception 19th May

The Mayor of Trondheim is hosting our reception at the Archbishop's Palace. The Archbishop's Palace museum will be opened that evening solely for the delegates to enjoy.

Guided Tour of Trondheim - 20th May

Would you like to get to know more about Trondheim's history and cultural life, to see some of its famous attractions - and some of the less well-known ones - and to learn more about everyday life in Trondheim?

Buses with highly qualified guides will leave from the conference venue for a 2 hour tour of Trondheim and its outskirts. We will visit Haltdalen Stave church at the Trøndelag Folk Museum and Kristiansten Fort. We will pass the Royal Residence, Nidaros Cathedral, the Old Town Bridge, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. There will also be a stop at Lian, a restaurant that lies on the edge of the woods with fantastic views across Trondheim. This stop is planned to provide a further taste of Norwegian culture. There we will have time to enjoy the view and take photos.

After the tour we will return to the conference venue for the Poster Session and Reception.

Conference Dinner - 21st May

The Conference Dinner is being held at the Rica Nidelven Hotel. A delicious Norwegian buffet is planned for this evening. The kitchen at Rica Nidelven bases its menu on ingredients supplied by local producers.

Conference Pubs

Each evening, pub meeting places will be provided on the program where delegates can find other delegates after dinner, if they so wish.

Organised Events for Delegates' Partners

Walking Tour - 18th May

A professional guide will walk around Trondheim for 2 hours with a group of 15 people per guide. Their aim is to show modern as well as old buildings. You will walk through the main places in town such as the Cathedral, the fish market, the old bridge and Bakklandet.

Sverresborg Museum - 19th May

Everyone interested can get together to visit this special museum. The Trøndelag Folk Museum is one of the largest cultural history museums in Norway. It shows the building traditions in Trøndelag, from town and country, from mountain to coast and from Sami huts to city mansions.

We will leave from the conference venue at 10am. From there we walk 5 minutes until the bus stop at Dronningens gate D1 and take the number 8 bus to the Sverresborg Folk Museum. The bus journey takes about 9 minutes.

At the museum we will have a guided tour. The visit will take around 2 hours. We will then take the bus back to the city centre. The planned return is for 1pm. However, if you want you can stay for longer at the museum and enjoy its nice Café Bagle or shop at the museum shop.

As we need to have an idea of the size of the group, if you are interested, please send an email to csantini+partnertrip@idi.ntnu.no.
